> ODE reviews Sycamore’s special education program

> Sycamore Community Schools has been selected by the Ohio Department of Education, Office for Exceptional Children, for an onsite review of its special education program.
>
> As part of the review, on Jan. 24, OEC will hold a public meeting to provide parents, guardians and community members the opportunity to address OEC regarding the Sycamore special education program. This meeting will be held at Edwin H. Greene Intermediate School, 5200 Aldine Drive, from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
>
> Information on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act, procedural safeguards and the formal complaint process will also be provided at the meeting. According to the OEC, meetings are not intended to resolve issues regarding an individual child or circumstance.
>
> If the meeting is cancelled due to weather conditions, it will be moved to Jan. 25 at the same time at the same location.
>
> While not required, individuals who will attend the meeting are asked to confirm their attendance by contacting Linda Ziegler at the OEC at linda.ziegler@ode.state.oh.us. or (614) 800-4564.
>
> Community members who cannot attend the meeting but wish to provide comments to the OEC can email them to Dolores Fantroy from the Office for Exceptional Children at dolores.fantroy@ode.state.oh.us or fax them to (614) 752-1429. Comments must be sent by 5 p.m. on Feb. 25.

> Individuals may also request a 20-minute meeting with OEC consultants while they are in the district. To schedule a meeting, contact Ziegler.
